My hero,
 yes, that heading suits you; my hero. Well tomorrow is your 24th birthday & I wish more than anything you could be here with us celebrating. However, that wasn't your destiny, and for that reason I must understand. 

 Mom and Dad are hanging in there. They seem to be having a lot more happy days lately and that, well makes me happy. Mom is doing an amazing job at her new job and she seems to like it a lot. We are all so proud of her, and I know you are too. Dad is doing better as well. His work isn't so busy but he satys busy working on your truck and spending a lot of time with Mom. They miss you and love you so much. But I know you know that.

 Emily was having a difficult time a few weeks ago, but seems to be doing better. She has a wonderful boyfriend now and he treats her real nice. He is a little 'whipped' but hey, it's all good. I think she is excited to be moving to Gainesville with me in August as I am excited to be her roommate once again. Seems like I just can't get rid of her! LOL.

I'm doing fine. I'm really happy right now, and Matt has a lot to do with it. We will be toghether 1 year this Saturday. I know you would've liked him, and I talk about you to him all the time. You would've picked on him & teased him (it's kind of easy to do!) and he would've enjoyed it. 

 I haven't been on your page in so long. It's just so hard sometimes you know. (I know you do.) Tomorrow, on your birthday, we will award the 3rd annual 'Brandon Killingsworth' scholarship fund, and then we will find some way to celebrate your birthday.

You have always made me proud to be your sister, and you stil do. I'm going to go now, but I will promise and try to visit here more. But know that I think about you everyday and I love you very much. You are my hero; and heroes never die!

A letter to you, my precious son, on Mother's Day  / Mom


My dearest Brandon
It's Mother Day - May 13, 2007 - the 3rd Mother's Day I have had to spend without you here.  I know you are here, always close by - but what would I give to be able to give you one more hug, to share one more day of laughter, to see you smile one more day.  

The girls are doing fine.  They are happy.   They both have real nice boyfriends.  I think you would approve.  They talk about you all the time so that their boyfriends know you as well.  You continue to be one of the most important part of their lives and they want them to know you too.

After months of planning and with months left to go, we finally got the 1st Annual Brandon Killingsworth "BK 5K" Memorial Scholarship Run/Walk scheduled.  It's Saturday, September 22, 2007.  It is going to be huge.  You had such an impact on this community and on everyone you ever met.   The scholarship will continue to grow each year.  You would be proud.

Dad and I are ok.  He continues to work on your truck and helps me take care of Southpaw.  We miss you so much but we try to understand.  I still have tears every day - maybe just a few, sometimes more, but I also have happy days, too.

I finally got back to work but doing something so different and I absolutely love it.  I am a financial advisor.  Your Dad encouraged me to do this along with Katie, Emily and Dennis.  You would be so good at this.  I would have loved working with you as a teammate but God had other plans and so I will have to understand.

Well, baby, I'm gonna sign off for now.   Hey, do Dad and me a favor and give our Moms a big hug from us, would you?  I love you and miss you with every beat of my heart.    I'll write again soon...until then...
